Professional Experience
Presenter on Preston FM (Monthly Show) 2010 – Present
Each month I and two others present a radio show called Trio Takeover. To be a legitimate presenter for the show I took part in an accredited 6 week training course and was offered a 6 month contract to present on the radio station.
Presenter & Station Manager for PSTV February 2011 - Present
PSTV is a student television station for Preston. As both presenter and station manager it is my job to organise meetings, plan future shows, assign presenter roles etc as well as keep on top of the social media aspect to ensure we have viewers.
Writer for Blog Preston April 2011 – Present
I write articles for Blog Preston on a range of subjects, including local news stories and issues such as ‘AV’ electoral reform.
Junior Reporter at the Lancashire Evening Post 2008/2009
I did a total of 4 weeks with the Lancashire Evening Post, during this time I wrote my own articles. I also attended court proceedings with LEP journalists and handled press releases and phone interviews.
CBBC Laughter Lab
I entered a BBC talent competition with a video of myself getting pied in the face whilst answering questions. I was successful and won the opportunity to present a piece to camera to CBBC professionals at BBC Radio Lancashire in Blackburn.
Editor & Writer for Cardinal Newman College Magazine 2009/2010
As both editor and writer for the college magazine I wrote my own copy and also ensured that articles from contributors were of a professional standard. This involved careful subbing for style, accuracy, grammar and punctuation.

BA (Hons) Journalism, UCLan, Preston: I am specialising in broadcast journalism for my final year of study. The course teaches a broad range of journalism and technical skills. These include research, scripting, interviewing, presentation, camera operation, filming and lighting techniques, audio recording, video and audio editing and use of graphics. I am fully trained in the Avid News Production System, including ‘iNews’ and ‘Newscutter’ and I have a working knowledge of the ENPS news production system. I am trained in the use of an Olympus audio recorder, the Burli electronic news production system and CoolEdit/ Adobe Audition. I am capable of using radio OB equipment and driving a studio desk. I can re-purpose audio and video material for online and can also produce unique audiovisual content for online. In addition I am studying media law, ethics and regulation and public administration in my final year.
